Instagram offers decorative fonts in Stories, but bios, captions and comments are plain text only. Every aesthetic bio you've seen was made with a Unicode text generator: type the text, pick a style, copy, paste. This guide covers what holds up on the platform.

Bio fonts

The bio is where styled text shines. Popular picks: 𝓈𝒸𝓇𝒾𝓅𝓉 for a soft, feminine look, ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ for minimalist accounts, ᵗⁱⁿʸ ᵗᵉˣᵗ for playful sub-lines, and vaporwave wide text for retro aesthetics. Keep at least your name searchable in plain text — styled characters don't match Instagram search.

Captions and comments

Styled text pastes cleanly into both. Bold sans is useful for a hook line at the top of a long caption. Decorative frames (like ꧁ this ꧂) survive too, though they read best on short lines.

What breaks

Usernames only allow letters, numbers, periods and underscores — no styled characters at all. Heavy zalgo text may be trimmed or rejected in comments. And a handful of rare glyphs render as boxes on older Android devices, so preview important text on a second device if you can.

A note on reach

Screen readers struggle with mathematical alphabets, and there's long-standing speculation about styled text and caption indexing. The safe pattern: decorate the accents, keep the message itself plain.
